Show moreAn analysis algorithm is presented that was designed to provide an accurate analysis of precipitation data obtained from various ground-based gage networks. The algorithm incorporates various methods and principles in which the application of techniques yields improved spatial and temporal analysis of datasets . The methods accomplish the primary analysis of precipitation data without the use of other meteorological parameters. Detailed explanations of analysis variables and methods are given along with the discussion of quality-control procedures. This algorithm was tested using GCIP (GEWEX [Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment] continental-Scale International Project) data for 1 February 1992 through 30 April 1992 in an area of approximately 30N to 45N latitude and 85W to 106W longitude.
