Student Research

As part of its mission to foster the transfer of knowledge, NCAR/UCAR provides opportunities for educational and professional development to students in the atmospheric, Earth-system and related sciences. Our collections of student research provide access to the capstone projects from student-oriented programs such as Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS), Summer Internships in Parallel Computational Science (SIParCS), and Digital Curation Education in Research Centers (DCERC).

DCERC Collection
DCERC Collection
This collection contains posters and associated documents produced from 2012-2014 by students in the Data Curation Education in Research Centers (DCERC) program. DCERC was an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funded program to provide library and information science students with internship experiences in the NCAR research & data center environment.
SIParCS Collection
SIParCS Collection
The goal of the SIParCS program is to make a long-term, positive impact on the quality and diversity of the workforce needed to use and operate 21st century supercomputers. Graduate students and undergraduate students gain significant hands-on experience in high-performance computing and related fields that use HPC for scientific discovery and modeling. This program embeds students as summer interns in the Computational and Information Systems Laboratory, an organization within NCAR charged with provisioning supercomputing and data systems to the geosciences research community.
