Here a tethered balloon is used to deploy measurement systems (winds, temperature, ozone, particles, solar radiation) to obtain vertical profiles in the atmospheric boundary layer during the MIRAGE field project. MIRAGE scientists investigated the chemical transformation of air pollution as it flows from Mexico City to surrounding regions and the globe as a whole, with an eye toward applying what they learned to megacities around the world.
