This color-enhanced solar image was taken in visible light by the vacuum tower telescope at the National Solar Observatory, Sacramento Peak, New Mexico. The bright area on the left of this image is an active region of the sun, probably containing several small sunspots. (This image was collected at a lower point in the solar atmosphere than DI00441.)
