The National Center for Atmospheric Research and Collage Children's Museum present Greenie Awards to local schools. The Greenie awards recognize special Earth Day projects in the areas of recycling, composting, environmental education, energy, conservation, sustainability, and air and water quality. In this worm-composting project, multi-age groups of students at Wild Bear Science School grabbed their magnifying glasses and looked deep into the forest to learn about the tiny animals that serve as nature's decomposers. Wild Bear students are building worm composting bins for ongoing research of our earth's microworld. Funding for materials to complete the projects is provided through a grant from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District for Boulder County.
