The Walter Orr Roberts Weather Trail is North America's first weather trail, installed in July 1997 in Boulder, Colorado, at the Mesa Laboratory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). Hikers will learn about the: Brown Cloud, Climate Zones, Cold Fronts, Fire and Drought, Flooding and Erosion, Mountain Waves, Plant Life and Climate, Snow, Sunshine and Ultraviolet Light, Thunderstorms and Wind. The Walter Orr Roberts Weather Trail is a wheelchair-accessible loop that crosses the mesa site. The trail is open year round.
