Show moreA new GPS dataset has been used for these studies, in order to identify tropical tropopause variability. The quality of this dataset was assessed in previous studies in 1999 (Rivera, 1999) making statistical analyses to the data. This year, making regression studies to the data, we identified the tropical tropopause annual cycle, as well as the longitudinal structure of this area. These results coincided with previous radiosonde analyses. We also studied temperature anomalies in the tropical atmosphere, identifying an interesting feature: a cold temperature measurement about 2km below the tropical tropopause. QBO information was obtained when the data from the residual after the regression were averaged for most of the levels. In future studies, we will find a theoretical explanation for this temperature anomaly. Also, we will further study the QBO using GPS data. Show less
